Maya Update

Tonight we had our second parent-teacher conference at Maya's daycare.  I know some of you reading this may chuckle a bit but we love it.  It gives us a chance to speak to Maya's teachers 1 on 1.  Maya's teachers gave us a milestone sheet for her age and she is doing great.  According to Maya's teachers, she is right on track.  They also said that Maya maybe able to move up to the 2 year old room in December as long as there is room and the right teacher-kid ratio.  We are excited for it as we would love to start potty training Maya as she is unable to train in her current room.  We love Maya's teachers so it will be sad to leave but it is best for Maya.

On a different note - Maya is getting some more teeth.  One has broke through and 3 are close behind.  I am embarrassed to say that I didn't notice the entire week Dave was away from work.  Dave actually noticed and pointed it out to me.  Oops.

Dave's Birthday Celebration

Maya and I threw Dave a surprise family birthday party this past Friday.  Maya also surprised Dave with a drawing she made for him (sorry for the shadow).

We also surprised Dave with his favorite cake - Carrot cake.

Elmo and the Sesame Street Gang

Yesterday we took Maya to see Elmo Live.  Noah and his dad Troy joined us.  Maya and Noah had so much fun dancing and signing along.  Both of them got an Elmo balloon and Elmo toy.  The only downfall was intermission as that is when Maya got a little impatient.  I guess you can't expect a 20 month old to sit perfectly through an entire show, right?

It was impossible to get all 4 of them to look my direction.

Interesting Post

An interesting post from a fellow blogger regarding the recent election from a view point of a white family with a black child.  Check it out and read the comments too.  It is an interesting subject matter.  Click here to read it.

How do they grow so fast?

Maya is getting so big.  She is now tall enough to grab things off the counter, she can put her own shoes on, and she now eats with a big kid's fork.  Maya can also climb on to the tops of the stools and sit down.  It is really amazing to watch her grow and learn new things.  One of my favorites is her saying "I love you".  It melts my heart each time she says those words.  It is usually "I love you mommy" or "I love you daddy".  We waited a long time to be parents and those three words make the wait worth while.  We love you Maya!

As you can see here, Maya managed to take off her pants and one sock.

Weekend

We had a great weekend with Halloween and then the NDSU football game.  Maya seems to do better at an afternoon game versus an evening game but we still had fun.  My co-worker/friend got us great seats (3rd row right behind the players on the 30 yard line).  Thanks Dondi!

Here are some pictures from the game.
