Princesses at Space Aliens?

Funny story.  Maya attended her friend Abygail's 4th birthday party this past Saturday at our local Space Aliens.  While at the table, two beautiful young women walked by in the distance.  All of a sudden the girls started shouting "Disney Princesses", "Bella", and "Cinderella".  By the time I understood what was going on, I caught a glimpse of the two girls walking into the restaurant lobby.  The girls wanted to go say hello.  How could you blame them?  Don't they look like Cinderella and Bella to you?  These young women were gracious enough to play along and let us take a group photo.  What a moment! Who could have asked for a better birthday gift?  If the picture wasn't enough, these same gals brought Maya and Abygail a bracelet! 

Not sure about you but I don't think we need to spend thousands of dollars to visit Disney World when we have our very own Disney Princesses dining at good old Space Aliens!

Today our Maya turns 4!

Birthday Celebration

On Saturday we spent the day as a family celebrating Dave's birthday.  We didn't do anything too crazy as we all needed a day of rest.  Dave decided a birthday lunch out was in order so we enjoyed a Mexican meal.  The girls loved it and especially loved the free chips! 

Later in the evening, Dave made his own birthday meal (yes, I know I should have cooked but Dave is the cook and so he cooked) of yummy BBQ's full of veggies and homemade fries.  We finished the meal with a surprise Cold Stone Creamery ice cream cake.  Dave loved it as I had it especially made for him which meant pumpkin ice cream, Dave's favorite.

Thank you to all of you who wished Dave a happy birthday and who granted Dave's birthday wish of giving $37 for his 37th birthday.  Words can not express how thankful we are to have such wonderful friends and family.

You Say It's Your Birthday...

Today is my birthday. Usually I am so excited and love everything about my day. I love the attention. I love meeting friends for lunch. And I love knowing the day is all about me. Selfish I know but I used to love my birthday.

This year is different. I am actually sad, really sad. I simply can not believe I am another year older. Today I want to actually forget my birthday and not make any mention of it to anyone. I just want the day to go on as normal.

I'm not really sure why I feel this way. Maybe it has to do with being another year older and feeling younger than my age. Maybe it is knowing that everyone around me specifically my family is also a year older. Maybe it has to with how I feel like I should be doing so much or have accomplished so much more by now. Maybe it is just me being a girl with hormones. Who knows really.

Thankfully I have a wonderful husband who will not let me pretend it is just another day. Dave always makes me feel special and I love him for that. I also have some amazing friends who volunteered to cook us dinner which I am very much looking forward to.

My birthday is going to be great no matter what.
